If you are considering adoption as the pathway to parenthood I provide information, support and counseling on all aspects of international and domestic adoption. The idea of bringing home a child to love can bring a lot of joy, but also on the flip side, you will also have some concerns. You are not alone in feeling scared and anxious about many issues that come to surface with parenting an adopted child.
Some common fears are:
“Will I love the child the same as a biological child?”
“How do I talk to my child about adoption?”
“I am afraid the birth mother will change her mind”
“Can I accept a child with special needs?”
I will answer your questions and help you come to a decision if adoption is a good fit for you and your family.
Current trends show that many families are adopting older and special needs children. I give individuals and couples support in parenting these children, who have been traumatized and/or have special medical or developmental challenges. The adoption of children from different races and cultures is another common trend. We can work together to unravel the issues specific to multi racial/cultural families and prepare you for this exciting and enriching parenting pathway.
